Chris Gayle the lone West Indian batsman among ICC top 10 ranking
Gayle, who is in Australia representing the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash T20 tournament, holds the number seven spot on the rankings for Twenty20 batsmen, which is headed by his Renegades teammate Aaron Finch.
Among the rankings for Test batsmen, discarded Guyana and West Indies left-hander, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, at number 16, is the highest placed West Indian, while New Zealand’s Kane Williamson has moved above Joe Root and AB de Villiers to take the number one spot.
The top five is completed by Australians Steve Smith and David Warner.
In the rankings for One Day International batsmen, de Villiers leads the way, ahead of Virat Kohli, Kane Williamson, Tillekeratne Dilshan and Hashim Amla.
Jamaica’s Marlon Samuels, at number 33, is the highest ranked West Indian, with Gayle 47, and Andre Russell 48, the others inside the top 50.
